Pudding Mill Lane Buried Network

The Pudding Mill Lane project involved the design of approximately 600 meters of buried heat network for Bring Energy. The network had to be routed through a site with existing underground services, so the design needed to account for the space available below ground as well as the practical requirements of installation.

A ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey provided information on the location of existing services along the proposed route. This information was used to develop the network layout and identify areas where the new pipework could clash with what was already in the ground. Potential clashes were reviewed with the installation team, and the route was coordinated around the site constraints.

The design package covered the network from the overall route down to the details needed for construction. The overall site layout showed the position of the buried pipework and chambers across the site. Section drawings illustrated how the network passed through specific areas, while long section drawings showed the route and changes in level over longer distances.

Weld coordinates were also produced to support the setting out of the pipework, alongside chamber drawings for the key points on the network. These drawings gave the installation team a coordinated view of where the network would run and how its main components would fit within the site.

The completed package brought together the GPR survey findings, the buried network route and the installation details for approximately 600 metres of pipework at Pudding Mill Lane.
